I was reading about corruption in sumo wrestling lately. This 1000-year old tradition has been loosing fans over the years. In 1996 two former sumo wrestlers died in the same hospital. Coincidence?
This happened the day before a press conference in which they wanted to come forward with allegations on match rigging, ties to the mafia (Yakuza), gambling, drug use… The police decided not to investigate their deaths.
